History

Master Nursery Garden Centers was founded in 1954 by a small group of San Francisco Bay Area garden center owners with the purpose of banding together to buy advertising, in order to compete against large chain stores. This shared media buying not only saved them money, it extended the influence of each garden center and showed the group that there really was strength in numbers. This simple beginning ultimately led to the creation of what is today “the nation’s finest retail nursery cooperative.” As Master Nursery Garden Centers has grown, one of the most important developments has been the establishment of their own brand of premium gardening products and most recently, their own brand of plants… Garden Elements.
